Jason wasn’t
among the guests at the High Cincinnatians’ Weekend but
there were plenty of other ghoulish folks to take his
place! As the evening progressed they slithered, crept
and sidled in. Witches, spiders, a triskaidekaphobic
(fears the number 13), vampires, and some members of the
US drinking team (I guess they made a wrong turn on the
way to Greece) all showed up to party in the traditional
tall club style. Among the celebrities were Frankenstein
and his bride, Dr. Octavius from Spiderman and
the Wolf-Man raised his ugly head! Outsiders passing by
were enthralled not only by the costumes but the
height of the party participants.
The evening passed with the “Monster Mash” the dominant
dance step. After a break the partying went into After
Hours where pizza, salad and the most scrumptious
Amaretto cake delighted the ghostly group.
Saturday the activities included a Wright-Patterson Air
Force Museum Tour (which Michael said was fantastic!),
a trip to the Newport Aquarium and Seafood Festival
(oxymoron?), shopping, museums or just rest and
relaxation at the beautiful Embassy Suites Hotel. I did
an impromptu fossil-hunting trip with Lynne Glover –
another Tip Topper Wannabe – being familiar with the
excellent opportunity the area presents for one of my
favorite hobbies. We crossed the state line into Indiana
to see what we could find at one of my select spots. It
was suggested to add it as a group activity next year.
(?????)
We moved on to the dinner dance where past club kings
and queens were recognized and costume awards were
handed out:

Broc Greif from the Portland Skyliners – Dr. Octavius
AKA Dr. October 1st

Dottie Mozur from the Skyscraper Club of Cleveland – A
spooky, faceless creature

Bob and Lyn Leary from the Hi-Cs – Their worst
nightmare: Waking up SHORT!!!!!
Other Awards:

Broc Greif (Broc cleaned-up on awards!!!!)
If awards had been handed out for best and most
energetic dancers my votes would have been divided
between Colette Williams (Cincy) and Sharon Trick
(Detroit) for the gals and Art Tunnell (Boston) and
Bruce Forrester (Cincy) for the guys!!!!
Sandy Allen, the tallest woman in the world at 7’ 7-1/4”
attended the dinner dance and was the center of
attention giving out autographs and visiting with
everyone. Sunday morning at breakfast she was quite the
celebrity again delighting the staff and kids with photo
opportunities and more autographs and keeping Michael,
Lynne and I entertained with great stories of her life
and interesting things that have happened to her over
the years.
